Nottingham is one of the three major cities in the East Midlands and is in the ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire, England. Nottingham's urban area is the seventh largest urban area in the United Kingdom, ranking between those of Liverpool and Sheffield.

Blackpool

Blackpool is believed to get its name from a historic drainage channel that ran over a peat bog, discharging discoloured water into the Irish Sea, which formed a black pool.

Pleasure Beach, Blackpool is situated along the South Shore area of Blackpool. The park is currently home to over 125 rides and attractions, including twelve roller coasters, of which five are wooden - the Grand National, Big Dipper, Rollercoaster, Wild Mouse and Zipper Dipper. The newest roller coaster is Infusion, the world's first suspended looping coaster entirely over water.

When it opened in 1994, Pepsi Max Big One was the tallest, fastest and steepest roller coaster of any park in the world. It was also substantially one of the longest, measuring 5,497 feet long. Currently, the ride holds the crown as the tallest in the UK, measuring 235ft above sea level.

The Pleasure Beach is the only park in the world to operate a traditional wooden Wild Mouse coaster. The ride was built entirely in house, post-World War II and is still in complete working order. It was also the first park in Europe to introduce a fully inverting steel coaster, Irn-Bru Revolution, and the first to install a S&S Space Shot ride, Tango Ice Blast. The park went on to launch Valhalla, which was designed by Sarner, a UK based theme park design company.

York

York is a walled city, sited at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire. The city is noted for its rich heritage and it has played an important role throughout much of its almost 2,000 year existence. The city was founded in AD 71 by the Romans and was made the capital of Brittania Inferior. During the Roman period influential historical figures, such as Constantine The Great, became associated with the city.

The entire Roman Empire was governed from York for two years by Septimius Servius. After the Angles moved in, the city was renamed Eoferwic, and served as the capital of the Kingdom of Northumbria. The Viking captured the city in 866, renaming it Jorvik, the capital of a wider kingdom of the same name covering much of Northern England. Around the year 1000, the city became known as York.
